This page supports Oklahoma teachers and school districts with the successful implementation of the Oklahoma Academic Standards for English Language Arts. The Oklahoma State Department of Education collaborates with Oklahoma educators to develop and identify high-quality resources for teachers and districts. Oklahoma resources include the English Language Arts Framework, past professional development slideshows, writing contest information, and access to instructional communities for professional growth.
To provide guidance to teachers, schools, and districts as they make decisions about the best high-quality instructional materials (HQIM) for their students, the OSDE now has reviews of PK-5 & 6-12 ELA instructional materials. The reviews include scores and rationales to help inform stakeholders as they decide which materials to adopt. Blank rubrics for ELA Grades PK-2, 3-5, and 6-12 are also available if districts would like to conduct their own reviews. The three-tiered structure of the rubric and the three overall ratings are explained on the Approved Titles page. Contact Sharon Morgan with any questions.
August 2024 Update: The initial cohort of teachers has been identified. A new group of ELA teachers will go through the course starting in January 2025.
