Walters Lauds Holiday Break Tutoring Program

Oklahoma City, Okla – State Superintendent Ryan Walters praised the success of a tutoring program aimed at helping at-risk students with literacy support during the Christmas holiday break.

“I am thrilled that our holiday tutoring program was such a tremendous success,” said Walters. “With programs like this, we are leading the nation with innovative and engaging ways to reach our at-risk students. Starting next month, we will be rolling out an even more expansive tutoring program to do everything possible to get our students Back to Basics and reading on grade level.”

Eight districts (Epic, Lexington, Norman, OKCPS, Oklahoma Union, Tulsa Public Schools, Western Heights, and Woodall) at 65 pre-k through middle school sites participated in the program, reaching nearly 1,000 Pre-K - 8th grade students.
